Leeds Football Tournament June 2023
TUESDAY 27th JUNE | GOALS, LEEDS
Symingtons Shine Bright as Champions at Business Fives Leeds Football Tournament
Business Fives returned to Leeds on 27th June with an electrifying display of corporate charity football. The event brought together 29 companies, each eager to secure victory and support their chosen charitable causes. A total of 338 goals were scored across 85 exhilarating matches, raising an impressive £2,557 in donations.
In the fiercely competitive Champions League, Symingtons Group emerged as the triumphant winners. Their journey to glory culminated in a gripping final against Sagars, with Symingtons Group prevailing with an impressive 4-2 scoreline. Prior to their triumph, they showcased their strength by overcoming tough opponents Mazars after Sagars overcame Northern Property Partners. Simon Grayson selected Chris from Symingtons as his player of the match in the final thanks to his 2 goals.
The event not only provided an opportunity for companies to compete but also allowed them to make a meaningful impact through their chosen charities. Symingtons Group’s outstanding achievement led to them securing a generous donation of £350 for St Georges Crypt, furthering the organization’s mission to support vulnerable individuals.
In the Europa League, it was BlueWaveSelect who claimed victory. Their path to success saw them triumph over AppsAnywhere in an intense final, securing a well-deserved 3-1 victory. Along the way, they demonstrated exceptional skill and teamwork, defeating Dubit and the Progeny Group in the semi-finals respectively. Their efforts resulted in a £150 donation for Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, enabling the preservation of this cherished natural landscape.
In the Europa Conference League, Redmayne Bentley shone bright, overpowering RBC Brewin Dolphin with a commanding 3-0 victory in the final. Their remarkable performance was showcased throughout the tournament as they prevailed over Redrow Homes and Search. Redmayne Bentley’s success translated into a donation for the MND Association, supporting their vital work in battling motor neuron disease. Their performance was largely helped by Andrew Dalton who conceded just 4 goals all day as he lifted the golden glove award.
Business Fives events not only celebrate sporting excellence but also foster a sense of camaraderie and social responsibility. The dedication and sportsmanship displayed by all participating teams were truly commendable.
Special recognition goes to Andrew Holden from Ramsdens LLP, who lit up the event with his exceptional goal-scoring ability, notching an impressive tally of 13 goals throughout the day. His remarkable achievement earned him the Top goalscorer award, presented by former Leeds manager Simon Grayson who also passed on the Ladies player of the Tournament for Megan from the Progeny Group.
Business Fives Leeds witnessed a collective effort to support numerous charitable organizations. Design Tonic stood out as the top fundraisers, raising an astounding £1,000 for Harrogate Neighbours, while other teams contributed to a range of causes, including Andys Man Club, Candlelighters, Alzheimer’s Society, Martin House, and many more.
The success of the Leeds event sets the stage for future Business Fives tournaments, uniting professionals across various cities in their pursuit of sporting excellence and philanthropy. Business Fives returns to Leeds on Tuesday 12th September visiting most major cities in England ahead of the National Finals in Manchester on Tuesday 24th October, as Business Fives continues to inspire teamwork, competition, and impactful giving within the corporate world.
