Manchester Charity 5-A-Side Football Tournament
TUESDAY 1ST SEPTEMBER| POWERLEAGUE, MANCHESTER
Kuits Solicitors Crowned Manchester Champions as £2,469 Raised for Charity
Business Fives returned to Powerleague Central on Tuesday 1st September for our Manchester Summer Season event, with 11 teams coming together for an afternoon of football, networking and fundraising.
Across a busy tournament, 37 matches produced 199 goals, while the teams collectively raised an excellent £2,469 for charity.
Joining us as Event Ambassador was former Manchester City and Sheffield United midfielder Michael Brown, who watched the action unfold before helping present the individual and team awards at the end of the tournament.
The opening group stage quickly showed just how competitive the afternoon would be. Alexander & Co made a perfect start in Group A, while Kuits Solicitors were the standout performers in Group B, winning all three of their opening fixtures without conceding a single goal. Talent27 also impressed with victories over NCC Group and Irwin Mitchell.
Once the competition divided into the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League sections, the standard continued to rise.
Kuits Solicitors carried their excellent early form into the Champions League, defeating Talent27 5-3 before overcoming Alexander & Co 5-1 in their semi-final. On the other side of the draw, Together Money booked their place in the showpiece with a 3-2 victory over Talent27.
That set up Kuits Solicitors against Together Money in the Champions League Final, and Kuits saved one of their best performances of the afternoon for when it mattered most.
A Patrick Jarrett hat-trick helped fire Kuits to an impressive 6-2 victory, securing the Manchester Summer Season title and £350 for Coffee4Craig. Jarrett’s performance earned him Player of the Match in the Final, as selected by Michael Brown, completing an excellent individual tournament in which he also finished as Top Goalscorer with 15 goals.
There was another individual award for the champions as Sean from Kuits Solicitors collected the Golden Glove, having conceded just seven goals across the tournament.
The Europa League provided plenty of drama of its own. NCC Group eventually emerged victorious, defeating Cogent Skills 7-3 in the final to secure the trophy and an additional £150 for Cancer Research UK. NCC Group had already raised £204 themselves, adding to their impact off the pitch.
In the Europa Conference League, MSB Solicitors finished their afternoon on a high with a 4-2 victory over Irwin Mitchell in the final. MSB were supporting the Anthony Walker Foundation, for whom they had raised £320 themselves.
Jade Nixon of Cogent Skills was recognised as the Ladies Player of the Tournament, rounding off the individual honours.
As ever with Business Fives, the impact away from the football was every bit as important as what happened on the pitches.
Home Instead led the way as our Top Fundraisers, raising a fantastic £585 for Home Instead Charities. Champions League runners-up Together Money also raised £405 for Empower Youth Zone, helping take the overall fundraising total from the Manchester event to £2,469.
The result also means Kuits Solicitors, Together Money and NCC Group have all secured their places at the Business Fives National Final in Birmingham on Friday 23rd October, where they will represent Manchester against qualifying teams from across the country.
A huge thank you to all 11 teams who joined us, to Michael Brown for being a brilliant Event Ambassador, and to everyone who supported the fundraising efforts.
After another fantastic Manchester tournament, attention will eventually turn to our return to the city for the Manchester Winter Season event on Wednesday 10th February 2027.
Congratulations again to Kuits Solicitors – Manchester Summer Season Champions 2026!
